CAS PROJECT

 Youtube Channel

Background Information

Aris first brought up the idea of doing a youtube channel when we were in school and I loved the idea. I figured it would be really fun to upload different videos that covered all three aspects of CAS (creativity, activity, and service). We began organizing our plan during the beginning of quarantine and uploaded several different videos between the both of us.

Aris and I have followed a lot of different YouTubers and knew exactly what kind of videos we wanted to make. We made our target audience teenagers our age and got to work. We wanted to have our creativity videos be oriented towards cooking, painting, or makeup since these are all things that we both enjoy and fit into the theme of creativity. Then, for the activity, we wanted to make a video on ways to work out at home during the quarantine to help those who lack a source of motivation to work out. And finally, for service we decided we'd make videos that would help people study with fun reviews made by us. The youtube channel was the perfect fun and creative way to cover all aspects of CAS.

In order to make our process as organizes as possible, we decided to make a calendar of our to-do's. Since the CAS project is supposed to last a month, we organized all of our video makings into one month so we'd be able to have better content on our channel. We set up two days to set the logistics of our channel like the logo and our introductions for each video. Then, we decided to have every Wednesday be the day we posted a new video. In the end, we switched a lot of our initial ideas for the videos during the research and brainstorm so our feed changed from what we envisioned it for the better.

Reflection

We have videos on cooking, exercising, math, makeup, and more. Through this project, I learned several skills through not only the editing and posting but also the making of the videos by learning how to bake or new ways to exercise. This CAS project allowed me to show my passions through the fun outlet of video making. We started it in April and continue to post videos on the channel over the vacations since it has been hard to post regularly because of other school work.

One thing I think is really good about our project is that we were able to cover all three branches of CAS which is great! One thing I think we could have done better is to try and do a video together. We had planned on doing a podcast and filmed it but it ended up being about thirty minutes long and youtube would not let us upload the video. I also went through complications because my Imovie would not let me download my videos so I had to screen record them to publish them. Overall though, this was a really fun and refreshing project and even though it would have been even better without the covid restrictions, I'm proud of the outcome.
